Children's masks without a sewing machine #yomequedoencasa

A craft that teaches you to make very fun masks for the little ones. In days as tough as the ones we are going through, we are learning the value of discovering that we can do a lot of fun things at home. These masks are designed so that you can make them without a sewing machine and are very helpful for these days. If yours is not sewing, this is your opportunity to learn how to do it, it is your opportunity.

The materials that I have used are:

  • T-shirts with a children's print
  • Rubber bands to hold the mask, in my case I used the straps of a T-shirt
  • A secondary fabric so you can protect the first
  • Scissors
  • A rule for taking action
  • Colored yarn
  • Small pompoms to decorate
  • Pins
  • Paint for painting black and white fabric
  • A fine brush
  • An unmissable

You can see this craft step by step in the following video:

First step:

We take the shirt and cut out the visible part that we want to be seen in the mask, we cut a square of about 25 × 15 cm. We place the other cloth underneath and we are going to make the mask two side folds, we will hold this shape with pins. These folds will help us to have enough hole in the part of the nose and mouth.

Second step:

We are going to sew the edges of the fabric, at the top and the bottom. In my case, as the fabric is white, with some pink drawing or detail, I have chosen a hot pink thread. We fold the fabric inwards making the hem and begin to sew. We do the stitches in a rhythmic way and with the same distance between the stitches.

Third step:

We are going to sew the right and left part of the mask. When hemming you must leave enough space to be able to pass the rubber later. In this case, the stitches with the thread have been given more carefully, I have tried to sew the fold but without reaching the outer fabric, so that the stitch is not visible.

Fourth step:

We take the rubber and we pass it through the sides of the mask. To be able to pass it easily we can hook it to a safety pin, with this help we can first pass the safety pin. Being more rigid it will be easier to pass the rubber next. We cut the rubber to size and sew its ends.

Fifth step:

To make the spiderman mask, we choose a piece of red fabric and we cut it with the same measurements that we have applied previously. We paint with the special paint for fabrics the shape of the cobweb. We make the same folds as before and fasten it with the pins. We paint the eyes black using the shape of the spider web, let it dry and paint over it white.

Step Six:

We sew as in the previous steps the sides of the mask. We place the rubbers on their sides and adjust the measurements for their correct support.
