How to make the craft
To make the craft you need the children to cut the strips to make the tree. (It is better to cut the strips if you have a facility for this ability, otherwise, it would be better for you to do it) Then you have to make holes in the strips with the tip of the pencil so that you are putting them through the stick.
You are folding the cardboard and putting the holes through the stick, as you see in the images. There is no fair measure because it will depend on the size of the stick and the size you want the folds of the tree to be.
