The 30th of May is a very special date for all Canarians as they celebrate the anniversary of the first session organized by the Parliament of the Canary Islands in 1983. It is a holiday on all the islands in which the Canarians take the opportunity to rest, spend time with family, enjoy outdoor activities or the good gastronomy of the island.

Speaking of cooking, one of the most used ingredients in Canarian food is the corn pineapple. It is used in a wide variety of regional recipes such as potatoes with ribs and pineapple, graciosero millet stew, Canarian gofio or millet broth, among many others.

Any of these dishes is good to celebrate the day of the Canary Islands. Another option if you don't like cooking too much is to make Canary Islands day crafts. In this sense, we propose you to celebrate May 30 by making a fusion between these two themes and that is by recreating the iconic Canarian millo pineapple in a fun craft. Do you want to learn how it is done? After the jump we will tell you!

How to make a basic millo pineapple for the day of the Canary Islands

The difficulty level of this pineapple-shaped craft is low because it is the most basic version. It consists of coloring with the technique of pointillism the drawing of a pineapple. If you are looking for an express craft for Canary Islands Day, this is the best option.

The first step will be to draw or print a pineapple mill template. Then you will have to use the stick to dip it in the paints and color the drawing with the pointillism technique. Then let it dry for a few minutes and… et voilà! You already have it!

It won't take you long and you'll have the kids entertained for a while drawing and painting. However, if you want to see a video tutorial of this craft press play on the EducaT en Casa YouTube channel.

To make this craft you will need as materials a template of a corn pineapple, green eva rubber with adhesive, scissors and bubble wrap. And to give it a touch of realism, we will use yellow paint and a brush to paint the part of the corn.

How is this craft made? First you will need to draw or print a template of an ear of corn. With this template, the leaves of the corn pineapple will then be drawn on the EVA foam and cut out. On the part of the grain you will have to paste the bubble wrap and later you can paint it with a yellow brush. Finally you will have to assemble all the pieces on a white cardboard and that's it. On the EducaT en Casa YouTube channel you can see a video tutorial of this craft for Canary Islands Day.

Millo pineapple craft with real corn

This is one of the most realistic versions of the corn pineapple craft because you will use real corn to create it. The materials you will need to make this craft are similar to the previous one, although we add something else: a template of an ear of corn, green EVA foam with adhesive, scissors and white glue.

The procedure to make this craft is the same as the previous one with bubble wrap. You have to draw or cut out the template of the leaves of the pineapple of millet and in the part of the grain we will use the white glue to paste the natural corn. This way you will give it a quite realistic touch. Of course, in the step of gluing the corn you must be careful so that the grains are well fixed to the cardboard. Otherwise they will fall off and the craft will fall apart!

If you want to see how this craft is done, on the EducaT en Casa YouTube channel you can see a video tutorial where it is explained step by step how to make this pineapple of millet for the day of the Canary Islands.

Craft of a corn pineapple with popcorn

Another version of this canaries day craft has popcorn. I'm sure you'll love this idea because while you have a blast making this model you can also eat a lot of popcorn!

To make this corn pineapple you will have to use most of the materials from the previous crafts: a template of an ear of corn, green EVA foam with adhesive, scissors and white glue. But to make this design you need a fundamental element and that is popcorn.

If you want to make this craft you will have to follow instructions very similar to the previous crafts. Draw or print the corn cob template, cut out the green EVA foam, the part of the grain and carefully place the popcorn on the white glue. That easy!

In the event that you want to carry out this craft but want to look at a guide to do it, I advise you to watch the video tutorial that you will find on the EducaT en Casa channel on YouTube.
