We are in carnival and everything is dressed in color, costumes and parties where fun is shared. Crafting is one of the best activities to do with the little ones these days. And what better way to do something as typical as a carnival mask.

This element is traditional and is part of the most sophisticated costumes. They come from the carnival balls of ancient Venice, where people hid behind beautiful and luxurious masks. Currently still dances are held where costumes and masks mark the sign of identity.

All kinds of masks can be made, from the most luxurious and sophisticated ones created with plaster molds, to the simplest ones like the one I'm showing you how to make today. let's see what they are the materials and how this mask is made fun and simple children's carnival.

Materials

The materials we need are the following:

  • White cardboard
  • Colored markers
  • felt pom poms
  • Glue stick
  • Scissors
  • A pencil
  • A piece of elastic band

Step 1:

First we have to fold the cardstock sheet in half. We place the hand well attached to the edge where we have made the fold and draw the silhouette of the hand.

Step 2:

We cut out the silhouette carefully not to cut the union of the two parts. We draw the shape of the eyes to be able to see through the mask.

Step 3:

We cut the paper leave the eye part open.

Step 4:

We start decorate the mask of carnival. First we are going to go over all the edges with a gold marker or the chosen color.

Step 5:

We add some decorative elements, like pink hearts, gold dots and any other design that comes to mind.

Step 6:

Now let's stick on some small felt pom poms over the eyes, to give some depth to the area where the eyes go.

Step 7:

Now all you have to do is make a few small holes on the sides and attach a strip of elastic tape. This way we can place the children's carnival mask on the kids' heads before going to enjoy the carnival party.
