With this tutorial you will learn how to create colored lanterns reusing glass jars. They are a decorative element that is very fashionable and is great for both indoors and outdoors, and especially for parties. You see that you do not need to spend a lot of money on lighting or decoration. Bet on recycling.
Necessary materials
To perform the colored lanterns you will need to:
- Glass jars
- Stained glass painting
- Disposal containers
- Long skewer sticks
- Wire
- Pliers
- Cord, rope or thread
Step by step to make the colored lanterns
Let's start by painting the glass jars.
Pour some stained glass paint into the jar, and spread it out by moving the container until it covers the entire interior. You must remove the excess paint and for this use a container that you do not mind spoiling or discarding. Place two skewer sticks on top of that container, and on top of them the glass jar upside down.
Wait for the paint to drain well and to dry completely. If you turn it over ahead of time, it is possible that more quantity will remain on the base and therefore the finish will be more opaque.
When you have all the boats painted and well dry you can start to assemble your chain of lanterns.
Surround the top of the boat with a wire and twist it on one side leaving an eyelet to hook the handle. On the other side, take that handle up, as you can see in the image, create a bow with it and fix it to the buttonhole. Help yourself with pliers.
Do the same with all the boats.
Tie a wire, string or rope to the handle and thus join all the lanterns that you have made.
And you just have to put a tealight in each pot and hang the lanterns wherever you want.
When illuminated they are much more beautiful and look great in any corner, but on terraces they are beautiful.
