The flowerpots they are a decorative element present in every home. In this post I am going to teach you how to make totally personalized ones and recycling plastic cans or containers that we always throw away.

Materials to make the pot with decoupage

  • Plastic containers or jars
  • Scissors
  • Primer or gesso
  • Brush and water
  • White acrylic paint
  • Decorated napkins
  • Decoupage glue
  • Varnish
  • Sponge brush
  • Rope
  • Hot silicone
  • A piece of clear plastic or film

Procedure to make the pot with decoupage

  • To start you need a plastic container. I have chosen a cup of coffee.
  • You also need any primer or gesso to prepare the surface.
  • With the sponge brush I'm going to tap with the gesso to prepare the material and be able to paint it later.
  • I will give you two layers of gesso and let it dry between one and the other.
  • When it's dry I'm going to give it two coats of white acrylic paint.

  • When the 2 layers of white paint have dried, I will choose Napkin that I like the most for this job. I have chosen one of strawberries.
  • The fine brush and a little water I am going to paint the outline to be able to cut the napkin more easily and that it is better integrated into the glass.

  • One very important thing is that you have to remove the 2 layers of the napkin and keep only the first one, where the drawing is.
  • With the help of decoupage glue or white glue I will gradually glue the napkin.
  • I am going to use a plastic to avoid breaking the napkin, I will put it on top to remove the wrinkles.

  • Once the napkin gluing is finished, I will give you one layer with decoupage glue to secure the design.
  • If you want to protect it even more, give it a coat of varnish.
  • With rope I will decorate the upper part of the pot making 2 or 3 turns and gluing with hot silicone.

  • If you are going to use it as a pot you will need a hole for the water to come out, do it at the bottom of the glass.

And voila, you already have your finished pot to place the little plant that you like the most.

See you in the next idea !!
