This post is a bit experimental (to call it something). It is an idea that had been in my head for a long time. I was wondering how one would look skirt made of feathers and the truth is that the result I love it! And what do you think?
La feather skirt is made by recycling the base of another skirt so, in reality, it is not as difficult to do as it might appear at first glance. Do you dare to decorate with feathers? then keep reading.
Materials
- Skirt to recycle.
- Marabou feathers in strip.
- Scissors, thread and needle.
- Lace.
Our Process
First we will choose one skirt that we want to recycle. In my case, it was a knitted one with a ruffle, which made it easier to know at what point I should put the feathers since I only had to replace the ruffle with the feathers.
We will measure the distance to which we will put the feathers and we will cut leaving a finger of fabric to hem. Ideally, the feathers should be slightly below mid-hip. Once cut and hemmed we will put the feathers. At this point I recommend that you be careful since if the skirt is knitted it can be very loose and ideally it fits your hips. Once we have the feathers on, we will only have to sew the lace and the feather skirt.
