DIY: How to dye watermelon print pants

WaterMelonShorts (Copy)

Some time ago I made a DIY I had not yet uploaded to the blog and it was too summery and the weather still did not invite us to get down to "work" with such a craft. But, now that the good weather is coming, it is the perfect time to dust off that fantastic DIY to make some pants watermelon.

What do you think of these watermelon print trousers? Do you dare with them?

Materials

  1. Trousers.
  2. Green tint.
  3. Red tint.
  4.  Salt
  5.  Bleach.
  6. A basin.
  7. Gloves.
  8.  Brush.
  9. Fabric paint.
  10. Painter's tape.
  11. Olla (that we do not use for cooking).
  12. A stick.

Our Process

First we will mix bleach with water in a basin and we will introduce the pants until it turns white. Then we will rinse it and put it in the washing machine (only, we do not want to disgrace any garment) to remove all the bleach.

Once dry we will put painter's tape to mark how far the red tint should rise more or less. Ideally, there would be a whitish stripe between red and green, but it didn't fit.

The next step is to apply the red dye (I bought brand DYLON) in half a liter of boiling water until dissolved. Then we will add the content to a larger pot that contains enough water to be able to introduce the pants up to three or four fingers below where it should be dyed and we will put it on a low heat. We will also add 30 gr. of salt per can used. This process will take about 20 minutes.

Then we will let it dry and repeat the same process with the green dye. Let it dry again and we will only have the task of painting the watermelon seeds and we will have our watermelon pants.
