Drying orange slices to make decorations

Hello everybody! In today's craft we are going to see how to easily dry orange slices or orange peel to make decorations in the fall. It can be used to make candles or centerpieces.

Do you want to know how you can do it?

Materials that we will need to dry our oranges

  • Oranges, as many as you can fit on a baking sheet.
  • Knife.
  • Baking sheet and paper
  • Oven

Hands on craft

  1. The first thing we are going to do is cut the oranges into slices. The slices should not be too thin because they could burn too soon. You can also use the peelings of the orange but taking into account that these pieces will have to control that they do not burn.
  2. We put the oven at 200º so that it warms up. Meanwhile we put paper on the baking tray and we distribute all the slices well so that they do not touch each other too much and they can all dry without problem, in addition to being able to control if they burn.

  1. we'll go ensuring that they do not burn. When a while has passed we will turn them over. The appearance of the oranges should be that of the dried fruit.
  2. When it looks like this, turn off the oven and let it rest a little inside before removing the tray and transfer the slices to a wire rack so they can cool easily without creating mist that moistens the orange slices.
  3. Once cold, we can store them in paper bags or directly use them to decorate candles, centerpieces, garlands, decorate desserts, etc ...

And ready! You can use this same process with other types of fruits such as lemons, grapefruits, limes, etc… try to see which ones you like best.

I hope you cheer up and make this craft to decorate your home with the arrival of Autumn.
