In this craft we will learn how to make some funny animals with wooden sticks. We have made the structure of a chick with yellow acrylic paint, cardstock and pipe cleaners. We have also elaborated a green dinosaur or with a very original fish using the sticks and other materials such as cardboard and pompoms. It is one more distraction so you can do with the little ones in the house and have a great time.
The materials I have used for the chick:
- Three wooden sticks

- A piece of cardboard with some pattern
- Yellow A4 size card
- A very small piece of orange construction paper
- Two pieces of orange pipe cleaners
- Hot silicone

The chicken
First step:
We paint the three wooden sticks with yellow acrylic paint and we let it dry. We will assemble the body of the chick joining the three sticks triangle shaped. We will join them with the silicone.
Second step:
We place the triangular structure on top of a cardboard with prints and we will trace its shape to cut out another triangle from cardstock. We cut it out and we stick it on the back of the sticks.
Third step:
We place the structure next to a yellow cardboard and We draw a wing of the chick to scale. We cut out the wing and we are going to place it on top of the yellow cardboard. We are going to take a replica of the same wing and for this we draw its outline and we will observe that we already have another wing. We cut out what was drawn and we glue the wings from behind of the structure.
Fourth step:
We will make the head of the chick and for this We will cut out a circle to scale. We will cut a small triangle which will be the little bit of the face. We glue the pieces on the structure.
Fifth step:
We catch two pieces of pipe cleaners and we fold one of the ends with the shape of the legs. With the hot silicone we glue the legs in the lower part of the chick's body. Finally we paint the eyes with a black marker.
Dinosaur
First step:
We paint the three wooden sticks with green acrylic paint and we let it dry. We will assemble the body of the dinosaur joining the three sticks triangle shaped. We will join them with the silicone.
Second step:
We place the triangular structure on top of a green cardboard and we will trace its shape to cut out another triangle from cardstock. We cut it out and we stick on the back of the sticks.
Third step:
On a green cardboard we make the dinosaur feet and for this we cut out a rectangle and divide it into two parts. We will draw the head square and staggered, and we also cut it out. We will also draw the tail and we cut it out. We glue all the pieces on the body of the dinosaur.
Fourth step:
On a yellow cardboard we draw the part of the dinosaur's body in the form of a crest with spikes. We cut out the drawing and glue it on the structure. Finally we glue the eye and draw with the black marker, the little mouth in the shape of a smile.
The fish
First step:
We take three wooden sticks and assemble them making the body of the fish and triangle shaped. We will join them with the silicone.
Second step:
We place the triangular structure on top of an orange card and we will trace its shape to cut out another triangle from cardstock. We cut it out and we stick on the back of the sticks.
Third step:
On a light green cardboard we draw two fins and a tail. We cut out the drawing and glue it on the structure. On an orange card we also draw the fish's mouth, cut it out and glue it on.
Fourth step:
We take the plastic eye and glue it. Finally we take the small colored pompoms and stick them on the fish's tail.
