Funny butterflies made with cardboard and cardboard

Funny butterflies made with cardboard and cardboard

If you like butterflies Here's a quick and fun craft to do with kids. You will like it because you can recycle Cardboard tubes and make use of some cardboard. With some pompoms and a few pieces of pipe cleaner you can make these wonderful little animals that will captivate you.

The materials I have used for the butterflies:

  • A large cardboard tube to cut out or two small tubes.
  • Fluorescent pink and orange acrylic paint.
  • A brush.
  • Yellow and pink cardboard.
  • Large pom poms in 4 different colors and a total of 8 (2 purple, 2 pink, 2 green, 2 blue).
  • Small pom-poms, in 2 colors (2 yellow and 2 orange).
  • Hot silicone and his gun.
  • Pink and orange pipe cleaners.
  • Scissors.
  • Eyes for crafts.

You can see this craft step by step in the following video:

First step:

We both painted Cardboard tubes with acrylic paint. Each of a different color. We let the paint dry and proceed to apply another coat of paint if needed.

Second step:

We place the cardboard on the cardboard to be able to make one of the side wings. We draw on one side and freehand what will be its wing, and thus we will be able to take the measurement much better having the cardboard tube next to it. We draw two different wings, one wing on the pink cardboard for one of the butterflies and another wing on the yellow cardboard, with another different shape.

Third step:

We draw a vertical line on the edge of the drawn wing. Without removing the ruler we fold the cardboard along the drawn line, we unfold and fold again but to the opposite side, leaving the drawing on the outside. With the drawing in sight we will cut it out, so we can match two parts of cardboard, and thus the duplicate wing remains. We unfold the cutout and thus we can verify that it fits perfectly with one of the tubes (or throttle body).

Fourth step:

We stick with the silicone the pompoms on the wings, two above and two below. We will also paste the body of the butterfly. We will also cut two pieces of pipe cleaner to stick them on the top of each butterfly (they will act as antennae). At each end of each pipe cleaner we will glue a small pom pom

Fifth step:

We glue the plastic eyes and draw the mouths with a black marker. And we will have our butterflies ready!
