Heart rug with fluffy fabric

Heart carpet

Hello everybody. Today I bring you a tutorial to do a heart rug.

As a reader that I am to my little ones too they like to read a lot And what better way to do it than in a comfortable but stylish place.

That is why I have decided to ask the little readers what they would like and have sentenced: "A furry green heart rug", so I got down to work to create that corner to their liking and here I show you how I made the heart rug.

Materials to make a heart rug

  • Shaggy green fabric.
  • Plush cotton fabric.
  • Scissors and pins.
  • Marker pen.
  • Sewing machine.

Procedure

Although I have used the sewing machine for this project, it can be done without any inconvenience by hand following the same procedure. The size of the cloth will vary according to the size of the heart that we want, I have used a piece of cloth approximately 150 x 200 centimeters.

To begin with, I fold the furry fabric in half and then I drew the silhouette of a half heart with a marker that was darker than the fabric in green to visualize it well.

When I finished the drawing, I put pins around the figure, taking both parts of the fabric and cut it slowly with a sharp scissors, taking care that the fabric did not move to have a good final result.

Then, to continue with the making of the heart rug, I spread the other fabric on the floor or it could be a wide, well-cleaned surface and placed the cut-out heart on top with the hairy side facing down, that is, the visible faces should be inwards and then I basted the two fabrics with pins.

When I finished basting the entire outline of the heart next to the other fabric, I began to carefully trim, leaving a small margin of one centimeter on the heart carpet so that the pins would not disengage.

When I had completely cut out the heart rug, I proceeded to sew it. I have used the sewing machine but we can do it by hand with patience. I have left a small gap without sewing to turn the heart rug over and also to be able to wash it inside out when necessary as this will make it better preserved.

I made an edge to the hole that I left so that it does not fray and is neater on the heart carpet.

After this I turned it over and passed a soft iron to the side of the cotton fabric to mold the seams of the heart carpet.

And we have already finished our heart rug and ready to put it in that reading corner or in that room that we want to decorate.
