A few years ago I lived in a block where one of the neighbors was very fond of crafts. The first day I entered his house I loved it. Almost everything there was, she had done. The feeling of warmth and personality was amazing. And one of its peculiarities was, among others, that of having hanging mobiles with polyhedron shapes. So Today, we are going to see just that, how to make polyhedra by recycling music CDs.
The brightness, its perfect shape, and the reflection of light, make them ideal elements to decorate. I show you an example of how to make one!
Materials
- White glue or Super Glue (cyanoacrylate)
- Scissors
- Cardboard
- 2-3 music CDs
Our Process
- Cut an equilateral triangle (3 equal sides) from a CD and use it as a template. You will need to cut 20 totally equal triangles.
- Place the first 5 in a row with the help of a ruler. Leave a millimeter of separation between them.
- Then, finish placing the other 15, with the reference of the first 5. As you see in the picture.
- Cut the surroundings of the crystals that you have glued, and then cut eyelashes. They will help you glue the corners and build the polyhedron.
- Fold the tabs, it will facilitate the assembly. To stick them, glue each side next to the other. For example, as it is in the second image, start at the top, and the "spherical" shape will be made by itself.
And this is the result! After assembling it, you can hang it as a mobile, just like I did, to play around with its shapes and brightness. Oh yes, and of course, with the help of a handkerchief, clean any stains that may have been made during the process. Due to the stains that are observed on the sides, do not fear, depending on the CD and the cutting tool, they may occur, fruits of the pressure of the cut. Then with natural light they are imperceptible.
I hope you liked it and you end up encouraging to do it. Remember that you can follow us here or on our YouTube channel!
