If you have a bench or an old chair at home, don't throw it away, recycle!
Today Crafts On we show you how reupholster a piece of furniture.
In my house almost nothing is thrown away, everything is recycled.
This bench that we are going to reupholster today, was a bench for a breakfast table, which of course, had already been stored for some time, waiting for inspiration to recycle it.
It was necessary to find the perfect fabric, as I wanted to give it a "vintage" air, with a cotton fabric with small flowers, it would be ideal for reupholster the bench.
It is a very simple task, which requires nothing more than specific materials, that you may have in your house.
We start!
Materials to reupholster a piece of furniture:
- Fabric
- Wadding
- White acrylic paint
- Wood stapler
- Screwdriver
- Staples for wood
- Staple removal pliers
- Scissors
Steps to reupholster a piece of furniture:
Step 1:
To begin, we turn the bench and we take out the seat, using the screwdriver.
Step 2:
We file the bank well and we paint with acrylic paint.
We let it dry for about 1 hour and we give a second coat of paint.
Step 3:
While we let the bench dry, we started to prepare the seat.
With the clamp, we remove the staples and all the upholstery.
Step 4:
We use the seat's own wood as a mold to cut the wadding.
We measure and cut.
Step 5:
We glue the cut wadding.
Ideally, stick it with hot silicone, so that we are sure that it will not come off with use.
Step 6:
We cut the fabric that we have chosen to reupholster the bench.
The measure has to be the double seat size, so we can upholster the top and bottom, being more verbose.
Step 7:
Using the wood stapler, we place the fabric on the wadding, as we see in the image below.
We stretch the fabric well, so that it fits us well.
Step 8:
We put the seat on the bench.
We put the screws back from the bottom.
As my idea was to leave it vintage style, File the paint a bit to give it an aged look.
In this way, they can upholster any furniture and change the look of your home in just one afternoon.
