Learn to read with a cardboard roll

This craft is very simple to do and is ideal for those boys and girls who are starting to read and write. The materials you need are few and it will help a lot to children who are starting in the literacy process. They will need your help to understand the technique.

Ideally, you should do the craft yourself or be helped by older children or with good cutting or writing skills. Do not miss this educational craft for the little ones in the house.

Materials you need

  • 1 roll of toilet paper cardboard
  • Colored paper strips
  • 1 markers
  • 1scissors

How to make the craft

To carry out this craft you need to have a cardboard roll of toilet paper but it does not matter if it has patterns or if it has the typical brown color of cardboard. Prepare 4 strips, two of each color, as you see in the images.

Then write the corresponding letters to be able to form the words. Then write the words that can be formed (all the variables and that exist) on different colored paper and in capital letters. Ideally, this activity should be done in capital letters, which is the best way to get started in literacy. The strips can be glued with a bit of tape.

Once you have the craft as you see in the image you can start the activity. Then when you have the finished craft you will only have to turn the paper over to form the words. Give him the paper so he can see the word he has to form and shuffle the letters so that she can find them turning over the papers.

Then, once he has found all the words and you have worked them, the ideal is to say a word to him and that he knows how to put it on the roll without having to look at the paper where the word is written.
