Hands on craft

Before starting to make distilled water, let's talk a little about what it is and what it is for.

Distilled water is that which has been purified and it is achieved thanks to distillation.

It is not a water that is recommended to drink since we need the mineral salts of the water without distilling.

So what is it for? Distilled water It is used for household appliances such as the iron, for humidifiers, glass cleaning or to balance the water in aquariums.

So let's make distilled water.

  1. We put the high fire the pot with tap water and we wait for it to be about to boil and we put the glass bowl inside. It is important that the water is below the bowl so that undistilled water does not drain with the distilled water. It is also necessary to bear in mind that the bowl must remain floating, otherwise it is possible to put underneath a rack like the ones in the microwave.

  1. We put the lid of the pot upside down so that when the condensation water flows through the lid to the center of it and falls into the bowl.

  1. To make the whole process more effective, once the pot starts to boil, we will put ice cubes on the lid. This is so that the steam collides with the cold lid and then the condensation is created that will run into the bowl. The ice should cover most of the lid.

  1. When the bowl is almost full we turn off the fire and set aside. We wait a little for it to cool down and remove the lid to take out the bowl with the distilled water that we can store in a bottle to use.

And ready!

I hope you cheer up and do this homemade trick.
