Original colored Felt Coasters

This tutorial is very easy to do and the materials can also be easily found in any stationery.
With this step by step you can make some original colored Felt Coasters, in different ways.

Materials

• Colored felts, try to make the felt between 3 and 5 millimeters wide, so that they are wide enough to support the weight of the glass, without deforming.
• Sheets of paper to make the molds, they can be used sheets or magazines or newspapers, or if you want to keep it you can do it in cardboard and it will last longer.
• Scissors
• Marker or pens. 

Procedure for making Felt Coasters

First of all, we choose a figure that we like to make the Felt Coasters, and we draw it on the paper.
Then we cut it out to make the mold.

The next thing is to transfer the paper mold to the felt. I have used thin paper to make the mold, so this way I can baste it to the felt with pins and then cut it out.

We do this procedure as many times as we want, that is, if we want 6 Felt Coasters, we must cut the same figure six times, or if we want to do a set of coasters in different ways the procedure is the same until we have the desired amount of Felt Coasters.

We can also put interlining on a part of the felt to give it more firmness. The interlining is available in haberdashery or craft or patchwork stores and can have one or two thermo-adhesive sides. In our case we will use the one with a thermo-adhesive side and we will apply gentle heat with the iron to stick it to the side of the felt we want.

Likewise we can decorate the Felt Coasters as we like the most, as long as it does not affect their usefulness. We can put glitter on the edges, sew with embroidery thread with a specific point, we can make a small embroidery, paint with fabric paint some detail, etc.
