Personalized mug with permanent markers

permanent-painted-mug

Now that winter is finally approaching, we all want to have a drink good cup warm tea… What if we customize our mug? It will be unique and special, perfect for those cold and rainy afternoons, warming our hands and body with a cup of tea.

In this post I will explain the technique they use to mark ceramics with permanent markers. As you can see, the designs of the cups are very simple since I was just trying to prove what the result ended up coming out, but I plan to do something more elaborate for Christmas that I will show you in another post.

Materials

DSC04150

  1. Mug or any other ceramic or porcelain object.
  2. Permanent markers. (They recommend using the brand Sharpie oil-based but any other will do).
  3. Acrylic sealant spray. (It is recommended especially if you plan to use the painted object a lot since washing it over time will wear out the drawing).

Our Process

  1. First we will design the drawing that we want to stamp on our ceramic object.
  2. Once we are clear about it, we will start to draw with permanent markers.
  3. After what We will bake for half an hour at 150º.
  4. It is very important to let it cool down before touching it or the ink will run. Finally we will apply the acrylic sealer spray.

As always, I hope you liked it and I await your comments.

Hi! I can't find that type of sealant spray online, you could tell me a brand or website where they sell it.

    thank you very much =)

Hi! From what I read at the time on this topic, they usually use a Krylon brand product.
Although, honestly, I am in favor of buying these types of products directly in a craft store so that they can better inform you about the advantages or disadvantages of using one brand or another and above all to make sure you are not wrong and buy a product that may be toxic. Greetings and I hope it helps you 🙂

I would like to know if the cup after painted is baked in a special oven or the electric oven. Thanks
