How To Make Pots With Aged Wooden Chopsticks

In this tutorial I teach you to create your own pots using chopsticks or also known as toothpick. Despite being a material very little value, as it is made of wood we can create very beautiful things and give them a rustic touch with the finish we want.

Materials

To make them pots of wood you will need the following materials:

  • Wooden toothpicks or toothpicks
  • Tuna can or can of canning is lower than the height of the chopsticks
  • Gun silicone
  • Dark brown acrylic paint
  • Water
  • Brush
  • Pallet or container
  • Jute rope or sisal rope

Step by step

Start by taking the year and chopsticks. We are going to stick these around the entire can using the silicone in gun. Apply a strip of silicone and then stick a pair of toothpicks. Do not apply to a large area because the silicone will dry before you can stick the toothpicks. Also, do not apply excessive amounts so that it does not protrude over the edges of the toothpick and thus the adhesive does not show.

For age the chopsticks, and to age any wood you like, mix acrylic paint color dark brown with water. Leave the mixture quite watery and apply it on the wood with a brush. To blur the color you can rub with a tissue, kitchen paper or a sponge. If you want it darker, add less water.

Don't forget to also paint the interior part. Let it dry completely before putting the plant in.

Once the paint is dry you can add more layers to make it darker if you want. To give it one more touch rustic you can surround it with a bow of jute rope o sisal rope.

And you will have your pot ready to add the plant that you like the most. In this case it is small to put the cactus, but you can do it with larger cans. Even if your cans are tall you can use skewer sticks so that they cover it to the top.
