Kitchen Accessories Hanger with Pyrography

Doing chores and rearranging things, I came across some wooden slats. In the absence of a hanger for kitchen accessories, I thought it would be an occasion to make one. Then I show you how to make a kitchen hanger with pyrography!

Preparation to make crafts

Materials

  • Wooden strip (in my case, I have taken one of approximately 42 x 5 x 5 cm)
  • Pencil
  • Ruler or meter
  • 2 closed sockets
  • 4 Thread reamers
  • 1 Manual sander
  • Brushes
  • Varnish
  • White glue
  • Paints (I have used acrylic and spray)
  • String
  • Pyrography

Processing:

Crafts with wood

  1. Clean the batten and trim (if necessary), and draw a semicircle at home corner.
  2. Sawing the corners by the path. Remove chips by sanding all vertices.
  3. Once the vertices have been sanded, we can "pyrography" and darken some or all of them. I did it because I like the rustic touch it gives it.

Crafts with Pyrography

  1. Draw the border in pencil. Later, go over it little by little with the pyrography recorder
  2. Shadows can be added or any other drawing. With patience not to burn the wood or go overboard with the tones.

Crafts with paintings and wood

  1. Paint the spikes with the spray. It is better to nail them to some wood and protect with papers when you paint. So you don't have to clean anything later.
  2. Paint an ornament. I have drawn red, dotted and yellow, white and classic black ladybugs. Let it rest until you see that it is dry.

How to varnish wood and make crafts

  1. Trim off any excess wood, the same size as the socket without counting the thread. This will help us that, when hanging, the wood is well supported and does not "dance" or have an inclination, as happens with some paintings when we hang them. Then glue them with the white glue near the corners.
  2. In about 15 minutes, varnish everything.

Assembling accessories for crafts

  1. Cut 3 pieces of the twine to make a braid. I wanted to leave it longer than the size of the hanger, because then I wanted to take advantage of it to make a central fold, in case in the future, I wanted to put something more weight on it.
  2. Once the braid is done, to assemble everything. We put the spikes first, up to its thread stop.
  3. From behind, we place the sockets up to their thread stop. The part that sticks out should roughly match the wood that we have previously placed.

Kitchen and craft hanger

We finished placing the braid we made, and we have a personalized pendant ready for our kitchen accessories. I hope it looks as good for you as its function.
