Rock bookends, quick to make

stones bookends

In this craft we are going to do a bookends with stones. You will see that it is a very simple craft and that the truth is very cool and it will give your shelves a very special touch.

Are you ready?

Materials that we are going to need

bookend materials

  • Stones of different sizes: I recommend that you have some larger ones that have a flat part to make a good base on which to arrange the other stones that will make up the bookend.
  • Hot silicone or better yet, a strong glue
  • Cardboard

Hands on craft

  1. First of all, if we take the stones from the field, as is my case, we must wash them well to remove the remains of earth that they can carry. We must bear in mind that after gluing them it will be more difficult to clean them well so now is the time. We will let them dry completely before starting.
  2. We put a piece of cardboard as a base, glued to a straight element that has weight that will make us a wall to build our bookends. In my case I have used the box where I have the dumbbells. In my case I did not, but I recommend you put on top of the cardboard a little felt of the approximate measurement that we want our bookend to have and go gluing the stones to the felt as well. This will prevent furniture from scratching when moving the bookend.

Step 1 bookends

  1. We separate the stones looking for those larger and with a flat side that serve as a base. Before gluing them we will put them together to see how it works and we will be gluing them in the parts that come together. And, in case we have put the felt, we will stick them to it as well. Once we have the base, we let it dry well and continue laying stones. It does not matter that there are gaps in between, or that the glue is visible. You just have to be careful with the part that will be seen, that is to say, the sides and the layer of the last stones. In the rest put enough glue so that they do not separate. Without fear!
  2. When we have all the stones glued, we wait for the glue to dry well. We cut the felt so that it cannot be seen and that's it!

I hope you cheer up and do this craft.
