Recycled bottle ideas

Recycled bottles

If you like to recycle objects that are within your reach, this is an original way to do it. I have devised these shapes but anyone at home can do it with any shape and design. To work this type of plastic, not just any paint will work and in fact tempera is not the best way because it can come off once dry on the painted surface. For this reason I have chosen to paint first with normal glue, so that the subsequent painting has that adhesion. I have to point out that it is not the same to work one plastic than another, because the one that works best for this is that of two-liter soft drinks, it has more solidity when painted and it seems that they grip the materials better. Then it is to make your imagination fly and decorate it to your liking.

You can also follow the Step by Step In the next video-tutorial:

These are the materials that I have used:

  • empty soda or water bottles
  • tempera paint or acrylic water-based paint
  • stickers or any embellishments
  • colorless and dull varnish
  • silicone glue
  • pencil to draw pictures
  • marker pen to mark the guidelines
  • colored markers to decorate the surface
  • a small pompom to decorate the nose

To make a bird's nest

First step:

recycled bottles

We choose a bottle of soda to make the bird's nest. I have chosen this type of bottle because it is more robust and resistant. We search to be able trim a narrow area at the bottom of the bottle and a wide area on top of the same bottle. We will mark with a marker so as not to get confused when cutting it.

Second step:

Once cut, we will try to make sure they fit well one with the other. The top part has to be wider than the bottom part. If everything is correct the we will paint with glue. We let it dry.

Third step:

With the marker we mark the areas that we have left to cut. We make the decorative finishes of the top of the bottle and the entrance hole of the nest.

Fourth step:

In this step we will paint it from tempera type paint, as I have explained before it has been added first The tail for this type of paint to grip better on this type of material. Let it dry and apply a second coat of paint again to finish well even all the corners.

Fifth step:

We finished off adorning some areas, you can continue using another color of tempera paint, but in my case I have used acrylic paint the water. I have used the gold color. We let dry and garnish with stickers to our liking.

Step Six:

It only remains to give one varnish layer and let it dry. We will also put some straw inside to emulate the nest bed. I also decorated the bottle cap and put it on. I also have to say that so that we can hang this nest, we must make a hole in the plug and pass a rope through it. We will make a knot in the rope in the reverse part of the plug and thus we can hang it.

To make a censer and a planter

You have to follow the same steps as in the previous craft but with other different ways. In my case I have chosen a bottle of water and I have to say that this type of plastic is less robust and therefore it will be difficult to give the layers of glue and tempera.

First step

We do the same trimmings marking first with marker. Then we will paint the surface of the bottle with glue, you have to finish the layers well because it will be difficult for you to adhere to this type of surface. Let dry and paint with the tempera.

Second step

We will do with the pencil the drawings of the eyes, the mouth and the nose so as not to be mistaken. In the case of the censer, we will make the shapes we want. We top off and color with colored markers.

Then we will give you the varnish, let it dry and stick the pompom on the nose with the silicone type glue.

For the censer we also give the varnish and we let it dry. We will fill with small stoness to support incense.
