Today I bring you a craft, which besides recycling, our it will be very useful in our sewing work: let's see how we transform a recycled can into a pincushion.
As I told you, it is useful and super easy to do, for me it is comfortable, because the pins do not come out at the bottom and thus avoid punctures.
Makings:
To make this pincushion we will need:
- Empty can for recycling. In this case it is a can of tuna, it can also be pâté or whatever is small.
- A scrap of cloth.
- Scissors.
- Needle and thread.
- Glue gun.
- Washi tape.
Processing:
The first thing we will do is clean the can well. Washing it with soap and water to remove any remaining oil. And we will dry well with an absorbent paper napkin.
- We will cut a square of about fourteen centimeters, in a piece of fabricThis is how we take advantage of what we have at home.
- We will remove the corners, or if you prefer you can make a circle of about fourteen centimeters in diameter.
- We will pass the thread through the contour of the fabric, we will stretch the thread and make a gather. We will introduce the wadding into the fabric and we will finish so that it does not fall apart.
- We will put hot silicone with the gun inside the can.
- We will then introduce the fabric with the waddingThis way it will be fixed to the can with a kind of pad. Spreading the remaining folds well to give the pad a uniform shape.
- We will place two strips of washy tape, first one and then the other around the perimeter of the can, to cover it and our pincushion would be ready. We will use a washy tape that suits us with the chosen fabric so that it has a more professional finish.
We would only have to insert the pins in the padded area and ready! to enjoy sewing.
