Many times it happens that we have a dress or a T-shirt that we have given, or at the time we liked it but now we see it very wide. For those occasions we can recycle wide clothes to give it a new life. We can adjust our garment with a few simple steps that will make it look great and you will use it again often.
We see it?
Materials that we are going to need
- A garment to customize
- Scissors, needle and thread
- Buttons or some decoration (optional)
Hands on craft
1. First of all is try on the garment and see where we would like to adjust itAn excellent area for this is the waist, since at the end of the lower part it will fall, leaving it very beautiful. We mark the area with a pin so as not to lose it and we get to work.
2. We fold in the area marked by the pin and we make cuts throughout the entire area, taking both the front of the garment and the back. Another option is to just take a piece from the back or the front or the sides, making the same braid decoration and adjusting garments but not excessively wide. Keep in mind that if the garment is not very very wide, making the entire perimeter of the waist will narrow it excessively and it will come small.
3. We unfold the garment and stretch it well. Now comes the key moment, we are braiding the areas of the cuts. We focus on two of the strips formed by the cuts, we pass the one on the right under the one on the left and stretch. The one on the right we now pass over, which will leave us a kind of knot with a space, like a puff. Through that space we will put the next strip, also below, we will stretch and go over it and repeat again. So little by little we will "sew" the strips to the right, forming a kind of braid.
4. To finish, we sew the end of the braid and we can put a button or other decoration to hide the end.
5. In addition to narrowing it, I wanted decorate it a little and for this reason I have decided to sew some buttons on the part of one shoulder and that they fall towards the chest area. This is optional, but if your garment is smooth like my case, it can give it a pretty good touch.
And we have it ready, to put on our new garment.
I hope you cheer up and do this craft.
