Scented candles

Find out how you can make some very simple candles to decorate and turn on in your house. Or if you prefer, they can be made and served as a gift. You have to choose as the main ingredient wax or paraffin, either by buying it or reusing it from a candle. In my case I have reused it and I have melted it to be able to fill it in some of the molds that I have chosen. They can be used canning jars o small glass jars to be able to give them a second utility. To know how to do it, you can watch our demonstration video or see how it is done step by step below.

The materials that I have used for the candles:

  • 2 large wax or paraffin candles
  • Cinnamon-scented concentrated oil (any other can be used)
  • A small glass jar
  • Decorative thread of two colors (in my case red and white)
  • A can of preserves
  • Jute rope
  • Hot silicone and her gun

You can see this craft step by step in the following video:

First step:

We choose the candles and we go breaking into small pieces and throwing wax or paraffin in a bowl. We will respect the wick to be able to reuse it later. The intention is to undo that wax or paraffin and for this we will do it in the water bath or in the microwave. If we do it in the microwave we will have to program it to low power and at 2 minute intervals and go around with a spoon. We will need all the time it takes until we see that everything has completely melted. While we are melting it we will add two or three tablespoons of essence or perfumed oil. In my case I have used the essence of cinnamon. We stir together with the wax so that the oil is well absorbed.

Second step:

We take the glass jar to decorate it. We will be wrapping a piece of decorative thread at the top giving it several turns. We double knot in the front part and we make a nice bow.

Third step:

We take the canning jar and decorate it with jute rope. In the lower part of the boat we will go winding the rope and we will stick it little by little with hot silicone. We will give it five or six laps or until we see that it has been more or less decorative.

Fourth step:

Another of the bowls I have used is a recycled and already decorated can that I had done in another craft, to see how it is done you can click on this link. The wick that we had set aside will be reused in the cans. We will glue the base of the wick in each bottle with a drop of silicone, and we will center it. We will cut the piece of excess wick.

Fifth step:

With the wax or paraffin melted we can already pour it into each bottle. We hold the wick with our hand so that it does not move while we go pouring the wax. Now you just have to wait a few minutes for it to fully solidify and have our beautiful candles ready.
