Woven basket with cardboard box

Hello everybody! In today's craft we are going to make this pretty wicker basket out of a cardboard box and rope. It is very simple to do and will undoubtedly add a touch of natural fiber to any room in the house.

Do you want to know how you can do it?

Materials that we will need to make our woven basket

  • Carton box. We will cut it to leave it at the height we want the basket to have, keeping the base of the box.
  • Not too thick rope, whatever color we want.
  • Cutter.
  • Scissors.
  • Ruler.
  • Pencil.

You can see the step by step of this craft in the following video:

  1. The first is divide the sides of the box to make cuts and get strips. It is important not to crack the base of the box. We will narrow those strips so that the rope passes easily. We will count the four corners, so we will begin to measure and cut from them and advance through the rest of the sides.
  2. Let cover the base of the inside of the box we can do it with rope or with cardboard or an image. We put rope around the edge of the image and when the entire base is covered we go up the rope to the sides.
  3. After we are going to pass the rope between the cardboard strips one above and one below. We will make sure to tighten the rope down so that the cardboard is not visible or very little is seen. We will continue until the box is finished.
  4. We will make a braid with the rope or we will twist it and we will stick it on the edge of the whole box to finish off the basket.

And ready! We already have our basket woven as a wicker ready and we will only have to place it in the corner we want.

I hope you cheer up and do this craft.
