3 glass jars to recycle with children

recycling glass jar crafts for kids

We recycle three glass jarsl to be able to do some super fun crafts with the little ones. One will go with the unicorn theme, a fashion that has been in the world of princesses for years. Another will go with the superhero theme so that all the little ones can enjoy it, because I would not like to make distinctions here.

We also have another luminous glass jar. It will be made with a special slime type glue and with a special glitter. When we have our first coat, then we can add another special glue that comes with a special color that shines at night. This jar will be a lot of fun because the little ones like this kind of magic.

You can see the step by step of this tutorial in the following video:

These are the materials that I have used:

For the unicorn mason jars:

  • a glass jar
  • white eva rubber
  • pink glitter cardstock
  • a gun with hot silicone
  • a pink or purple pompom
  • some pink fabric roses
  • yellow clay that dries in the air, in my case I bought it white
  • gold acrylic paint
  • gold glitter
  • glitter to put in the water, it will be hearts, pink glitter ... colored pompoms
  • water
  • a dash of sunflower oil
  • scissors
  • a brush
  • a normal marker
  • a black marker to make the stroke marked or fixed
  • a pencil
  • scissors

For the light glass jar:

  • a glass jar
  • a special glue type slime, it is transparent and comes with special glitter
  • a special glue that has a special medium green color, which shines at night
  • a brush

For the mason jar with superhero

  • a glass jar
  • a gun with hot silicone
  • a lego superhero mounted on a small square frame
  • colored glitter with shades of blue and red, depending on the superhero
  • glitter stars with shades of blue and red depending on the superhero

To make the unicorn jar

First step:

We draw an ear on a piece of eva rubber and we re-collect. I have drawn one at the beginning to be able to put it as a tracing for the next one, so they will come out the same. Also we draw and cut outs the inside of the ears with glitter cardstock. We will stick the latter on the rubber foam at the beginning. The glue I have used is hot silicone.

Second step:

With hot silicone we will stick the ears in the jar lid. Here we will make the structure that will form the upper part of the unicorn. With the same hot silicone we will glue a pompom and two rose-shaped flowers.

Third step:

To make the horn we will use clay that dries in the air. I chose a white one. We make two moderately small cylinders that we will roll up together. You have to observe that its end has to end in a point. We let it dry.

Fourth step:

For paint the eyes, we mark them with a marker not fixed, that can be erased, and once we have achieved our drawing, we finish it with the fixed marker. We fill the glass jar water leaving two fingers of air to the edge. We cast the sunflower oil which will be the amount of a finger, thus leaving a finger of air. We cast below glitter hearts and pompoms. We close the jar with the lid.

Fifth step:

We paint the horn with our acrylic paint and then we throw him the glitter so it can stick. We use the silicone hot to be able to paste it in place.

To make the light jar

First step:

We paint with a brush the inside of the glass jar with special glitter glue. We can let it dry before applying the second glue.

Second step:

We apply with a brush light glue, we can paint it with vertical stripes or making waves. They are two simple and very fast steps.

To make the superhero jar

First step:

We assemble the square structure where will the superhero go. In my case I have chosen Spiderman. We go to stick with the hot silicone in the jar lid. We make sure that the structure fits perfectly inside the jar. We let dry so that the pieces come together well.

Second step:

We fill the jar with water leaving barely a finger of air. In this space we will cast the glitter. In my case, I chose those that were the same tone as the superhero. We close the lid tightly and that's it.
