Cover a book with broken flaps or that we do not like

Hello everybody! In today's craft we are going to show how cover a book that has the covers torn, damaged or that we do not like.

Do you want to see how to do it?

Materials that we will need to cover our book

  • Book, it does not matter if it is soft or hard cover and back cover.
  • Light colored card stock or cardstock
  • Wrapping paper that we like and is thick enough so that the drawing of the front and back covers does not get through.
  • Paper glue
  • Scissors

Hands on craft

  1. The first thing is to cut out any protrusion that the book may have if it is broken or glue those areas to get a smooth surface where to put the lining afterwards.
  2. We cut two rectangles that are 1cm smaller on three of the sides with respect to the size of the cover. We will leave one of the long sides at the same distance. We reserve these pieces for later.
  3. We cut out a piece of paper, fabric can also be used, to line the outside of the book, sticking carefully to avoid bags of air. We will let the external part dry well before glue the excess edges inside the flaps.

  1. If we want some part of the original cover to show, we can cut out that area of the paper before sticking it on. For example, if we want to see the summary of the back cover or the title of the spine of the book. When cutting out on the paper, once glued it would show the corresponding part of the book. Later we will put a frame with cardboard or other material.

  1. Finally, once the paper is dry, We will glue the cardboard rectangles on the inside, leaving them as close as possible to the spine. We will let it dry by putting a sheet between the cards and the rest of the book before putting weight on the book. In 24 hours we can take the weight off you.

And ready! We can now put it back on the shelf or read our book without problem.

I hope you cheer up and do this craft.
