Game to learn numbers

Game to learn numbers

We have a very funny cardboard turtle. This type of craft is made so that the little ones can begin to learn to know numbers and also know how to count.

The structure of the turtle will be very nice and will make the little ones like it. They will like how they can have fun placing the cones with the drawn numbers, inside the cavities where it has to coincide with the same number of points.

The materials that I have used are:

  • A wide cardboard that is not too fat
  • White cardboard
  • green card to draw the head and legs
  • colored cards to make the cones (up to 9 different colors)
  • two large decorative eyes
  • brown acrylic paint
  • black marker
  • red marker
  • scissors
  • Paint brush
  • pencil
  • compass
  • glue glue or cold silicone type

You can see this craft step by step in the following video:

First step:

On the cardboard, with the help of the compass, we will draw a big circle that will form the body of the turtle. Inside the circle we will also draw 9 circles. We will cut out the large circle and all the circles that we have made inside the body.

Second step:

We glue under the cardboard a white card and we cut the excess part. The visible part of the body we paint it brown.

Third step:

With a marker we paint little dots within the small circles within the body. We will start by drawing from one point to nine points. In this way, the child will have to later choose the cones with the number drawn and place it in the corresponding circle with the number of points.

Fifth step:

We draw 9 circles with the compass on the 9 colored cards. They will be around 8 to 9 cm in diameter. We cut them out and make a cross cut from the edge of the circle towards the center point of the diameter. This cut will help us to make the cone more easily.

Step Six:

We make the cone and we calculate its size by matching it with the circles that we have made in the body of the turtle. When we have it done we glue its ends, if we have a lot of cardboard left over at one of its ends we cut it. In my case to stick it I had to place a clamp to hold the cardboard until the glue dries.

Eighth step:

When we have the cones made we paint the numbers with the marker. To play this game the child has to place the cones in the corresponding circles.
