In this tutorial I will teach you the techniques and materials that I use to make a hand painted canvas to decorate a children's room or any other space that we want to decorate with a beautiful drawing painted on a canvas.
A hand-painted canvas is a pretty and standout alternative to the commercial paintings that we find today almost in all home decoration sites.
Materials
- A blank canvas, we can get them in any store where they sell articles for crafts and the salesperson can guide us according to our preferences the canvas that best suits us. They come in different sizes, widths and materials.
- Brushes
- Paintings.
- Sheets, pens, scissors pencil and tracing paper.
- Solvent and a bottle to clean the brushes
Procedure for making hand-painted canvas
The first thing we have to do is look for a drawing that we like to capture it on the canvas and then paint it.
If it is a hand-painted canvas for a child, the ideal is to take into account their preferences and make a nice drawing of their favorite Super Hero or cartoon. We can also choose a more abstract drawing for our hand-painted canvas, or simply copy the drawing that we like the most for the site that we are going to decorate.
In my case I have made many hand-painted canvases for various children, and according to their preferences I have used some drawings or others.
When we have decided on the drawing that we will use on our hand-painted canvas, we have to draw it on a sheet and then transfer it to the canvas. To do this, we will use a paper of tracing or charcoal, light in color, such as yellow or pink. We can get these papers in any ordinary stationery that is dedicated to the sale of items for school.
When we have the drawing transferred to the canvas, we will go over it with a soft pencil to see more clearly the limits to proceed to paint it.
To paint the canvases I have used acrylic paints, but we can use tempera or any paint that we feel comfortable painting. When we have finished painting our hand-painted canvas, it is very important to leave it in a ventilated place so that it dries well before wrapping it or placing it in the place to be decorated.
Once the canvas is dry, we can fine-tune the finish by embossing details or adding customizations.
