Handmade soaps

We will learn with this craft to do handmade soaps, to be able to use at home or as a gift. It can be made by melting base soap or glycerin that we can buy easily. In my case I have used white soap and melted it. It is easy to undo in the microwave and although it seems curious it can be reused using some small molds. We will decorate the soaps with rope, dried pieces of plants and some type of rustic decoration. You will like the result very much, go ahead !!

The materials that I have used for the candles:

  • Base soap or glycerin. In my case I have recycled two small odorless soaps.
  • A bowl to microwave
  • A spoon
  • Lemon essential oil
  • Water
  • Lemon rind zest
  • A little rosemary
  • A little lavender
  • A few pieces of rose petals
  • Some small molds for the soap
  • Jute-type decorative rope
  • Dried flower or some decorative plant

You can see this craft step by step in the following video:

First step:

We take any of the type of soap that we have chosen and on top of a table we will cut it into pieces, with the help of a knife. We will put it into a bowl that can go to the microwave.

Second step:

We put the bowl in the microwave at low power and at small intervals time, for example 1 or 2 minutes. As the soap softens or melts, we will spinning with the spoon. If the soap is slow to melt but becomes soft, we can add a little water to help it get rid of. We continue heating as long as it takes until we see that everything is liquid.

Third step:

We cast the drops of oil essence in the soap and stir until it dissolves. We take the small molds and fill them with the soap.

Fourth step:

Put the pieces of petals, the rosemary leaves, the lemon zest or the lavender on top of the soaps. We can do it to our liking. We let the soaps dry at room temperature. In my case, I let them dry for a whole night.

Fifth step:

We unmold the soaps and decorate them with the rope. We wrap the rope around the soap as if it were a small package. We tie a knot and then a nice bow. Inside the loop we can place a dry sprig of flowers or a sprig of rosemary.
