Welcome to this new article in which I am going to show you several techniques and ideas to make a decorated wooden box. You can use them to store a multitude of things or use them as a small jewelry box, for your little ones or simply to decorate.
Making a decorated wooden box is something very simple and it is rather to throw imagination and do it to everyone's taste, the following article can help you and guide you to choose techniques and materials for the elaboration.
Materials
- A wooden box that you want to decorate or change the style.
- Acrylic or tempera paints of strong colors.
- Brushes.
- Papers, colored cards, appliqués, buttons, rhinestones, etc ...
Procedure to make a decorated wooden box
I have decided on a small wooden box, but we can decorate or change any type of box, cardboard, acrylic, plastic, etc ...
The first thing I have done is to disassemble the wooden box, with a screwdriver I have removed the hinges and the closure, to be able to paint it completely without dirtying the metal parts. I have painted in several stages, first all the part inside the box and the lid. Once dry I have painted the floor of the wooden box and the bottom of the lid, I have used a thick brush.
When the box has been dry I have reassembled it, placing the hinges and the lock in place.
To make the decorated wooden box we can choose the technique that we like the most. We can paint on it another drawing directly on the box, paste a ready-made applique or make an applique ourselves.
In my case what I have done is make a drawing, paint it and then apply it to the wooden box in different ways, in some cases I have pasted it directly on the box using a soft glue for wood and paper, but I have also made others where I wanted to give it some depth and I used double-sided tape To stick it on the decorated wooden box, we can also draw it directly on the already painted box.
To finish decorating the box, we can use buttons, Fimo, rhinestones, ribbons, bows or just let our imagination fly and creativity.
