Preparation:

Step 1:

Take the garment that you want to dye (clothes, pillowcases, sheets or scarves), moisten it in water, tie several knots in the areas where you want to create the Batik figures and then secure them with a thread or rope.

Step 2:

In a large pot, make the aniline mixture and when it is warm, transfer it to a spacious container to use it.

Step 3:

Dye the garment by immersing it in the container with the warm aniline (you should not use very hot aniline) you should emphasize applying the aniline in the knots, you can help yourself with this with a sponge.

Step 4:

Place the wet fabric or garment in a plastic bag and let it sit for 24 hours.

Step 5:

Without removing the knots, rinse the excess aniline with cold water.

Step 6:

Remove the knots made in the garment and clean it with hot water

Step 7:

To work with several colors, the same garment, when untying the knots, makes new knots in other sections and starts the dyeing process again.

Tips:

-You must keep all the materials at hand and be careful with hot aniline, this is not a technique to perform with children.

-To maintain the colors of the batik-dyed garment for longer, wash it by hand and with bar soap.
