How to renovate an old bedroom

Hello everybody! In today's craft we are going to see how we can rehabilitate an old bedroom to give it a more current look and be able to continue using it.

Do you want to see how you can do it?

Materials that we are going to need

  • Lija fine for wood.
  • Painting of the color that we choose, in this case I have chosen white. There are many types of wood paint, and each will give a different finish. In this case, as we want a wood effect where the feeling of the grain remains when passing the hand, we have chosen a not too bright enamel.
  • Brushes, preferably with not very fine bristles since we will use them to make the grain of the wood.
  • Solvent, according to the paint we have chosen.
  • White glue, nails or screw, in case it is necessary to secure or anchor a piece.
  • New handles for the tables. You can also wallpaper the front of the table drawers to give it another touch.

Hands on craft

  1. The first step is to see if it is necessary to disassemble any part of any piece, such as handles, doors (if it is necessary to change the hinges) remove any adornment if we do not like it, etc.

  1. Then We glue or screw if there is any loose part. You can ask a carpenter for this step if you prefer.
  2. We sand well all the pieces to lift the varnish that they can carry and that it takes the paint well afterwards.

  1. We begin to paint. It is important to visualize which direction we want the wood grain to have since we must always paint in that direction. The brush strokes must be passed from one end to the other, without lifting the brush in the middle of a piece as this would leave the mark of lifting the brush and spoil the wood finish. To rectify some part, we can dilute a little paint with the solvent and pass the brush repeatedly through the same place to eliminate what we do not like. We will be moving away and closer to the piece repeatedly to see how the general result is and if we should put more paint somewhere.

  1. We put some new shooters. We may have to make the hole wider, in that case we can use a drill with a wood bit and enlarge it.

And ready! we can already enjoy a renovated bedroom.
