1. First of all we are going to choose the threads To make the feather, the ideal is that they be a thread or wool that is composed of many fine threads, then we will see why. I have chosen a thread that varies in color in white and brown tones to give a more special touch to the pen.
2. We cut a double thread of the size we want our pen to have. We glue the ends to the table with a little tape to facilitate the subsequent work.
3. We cut many threads of the width measurement that we want our pen to have. We are going to need quite a few, but they can be cut little by little as we need it. A quick way to cut them is to roll the thread around a cardboard and then cut them all at once. Depending on how big the cardboard is, we can cut the threads again in half all at the same time and have twice the number of threads.
4. Now that we have everything prepared we are going to start making the thickness of the pen. We take two threads and fold them in half, with the part of the turn towards the thread glued to the table, as can be seen in the image. We are going to pass one thread through the bottom and the other through the top. Then, we put the ends of one thread around the other, and repeat the same with the other end and the loop that is loose. Then we pull the ends and the two threads will be joined to the central one by a knot.
5. We will repeat step 4 until we fill in all the desired length for the pen. The thing to keep in mind is that If in the first threads that we have tied, it was the one on the left that passed under the central rope, in the second threads, it will be the one on the right that goes below. We will alternate the sides until finished. This way the knots will be more beautiful. If you make a mistake in one, nothing happens because you can put other threads in the middle with the correct side. We will join the threads upwards.
6. When we have all the threads knotted to the central part, We will make a knot with the ends of the central thread and it is time to comb all the threads. In this way we fray them and generate the feeling of a feather. Remember to comb without fear on both sides of the feather.
7. Once combed, we will cut giving an oval shape that ends in a point. We can go combing during this process as well.
8. We hang the pen and finish cutting it so that the shape is right.
