Snakes made with pompoms

These snakes are so much fun to do with children. We really like its endearing way of being made with pompoms and thus being able to decorate any children's corner of the house. Its structure is very simple, made with pompoms and colored beads that are tucked between a rope to form this fun animal.Snakes made with pompoms

The materials that I have used for two snakes are:

  • 9 pompoms of about 5-6 cm of black color
  • 9 pompoms of about 5-6 cm yellow
  • 4 large decorative eyes
  • A thread-cord of any color (in my case I have chosen yellow)
  • A large needle to be able to pass the thread between the pompoms and the beads
  • Large colored beads made of wood or any material
  • Smaller colored beads
  • Scissors
  • Hot silicone and gun

You can see this craft step by step in the following video:

First step:

We put the cord through inside the needle. With the rope ready we begin to go through the first pompom so that it is attached. The first snake that is being made is black, so the first pompom is yellow (it will be the head of the snake) and thus it will contrast with the rest of the body.

Second step:

Then we put the first big trinket the color you want and then we go through another pompom again, in this case it will already be black. We will do the rest of the snake by alternating beads and pompoms.

Third step:

We adjust the structure of the snake before ending his tail. We slide the pompoms and beads so that there are no gaps and place a large bead in the final part. Then we will place 4 or 5 small beads alternating their colors and close the tail with a knot. At the end of the knot we leave a piece of rope of about 4 cm and we fray it to make it decorative.

Fourth step:

In the front, where the head, we will tie a knot to seal the structure. We cut the cord about 4 cm from the knot and fray them to make it look like the tongue. To finish we will stick with the silicone both eyes of the serpent. The other snake will be made in the same way as the first, but changing the colors of the pompoms.
