Stick games for kids

Stick games for kids

You will love this craft made with sets of sticks, for the little ones in the house to play. This game is used for their skills to develop in a fun way. It is made with recycled materials: we will use a large bottle of formula milk and some ice cream sticks that we will paint in different colors.

The game will consist of putting the sticks into the holes in the lid, in their corresponding colors. Also with the sticks you can have the children represent the same pictures that you can devise with a structure of five sticks. I attach an image below so you can have a sample. You can print many more drawings like this one, but painting the sticks in different colors, so that the child is always challenging to compose it in different ways.

The materials that I have used are:

  • A large bottle of formula milk with its plastic lid
  • acrylic paint in 6 different colors. I have used blue, green, red, yellow, orange and pink.
  • a cutter
  • 6 wooden ice cream sticks
  • sheets to print the drawings
  • a pencil
  • a brush

You can see this craft step by step in the following video:

First step:

We choose a large metal jar with a plastic lid. In my case, I have chosen a formula milk one to be able to recycle it. We take the plastic lid and we make marks with a pencil to be able to cut them with a cutter. We make the holes to the size of the stick to be able to put them through the opening.

Second step:

We paint the openings that we have cut each one of a different color. We paint the sticks each one of a color, coinciding with the same colors that we have painted on the lid. The idea is that when we place the lid the children can put the sticks in the openings and in their corresponding color.

Third step:

We check that the sticks fit in each opening we have made. Then with the same sticks we can have the children recreate and imitate figures like the one in this little house. They should do the same assembly with the colors placed in the same order. You can have access to the figure of the little house in an image that I have added above. Save the photo and then print it.
