Stone cactus

Stone cactus

Have fun doing this craft with the kids in one afternoon. Together you can go to look for stones and then paint them. It will be a fun hobby and they can also be decorated in the shape of a cactus. They will be placed inside a clay pot so that any corner can be decorated of the house or your garden. You have a demonstrative video so you know how to do it step by step. Cheer up!

The materials that I have used for the cactus:

  • Medium, large and small flat and rounded stones.
  • Very tiny stones to fill in the gaps.
  • Enough soil to fill a small terracotta pot.
  • A small terracotta pot.
  • Green acrylic paint.
  • A brush.
  • White marking pen. Failing that, tipex can be used.
  • Green and pink marking pen. Failing that, acrylic paint can be used.

You can see this craft step by step in the following video:

First step:

We take the stones and we wash them well with warm soapy water to remove any residue. We let them dry well. We paint them with green acrylic paint on one side and let it dry. We paint again so that they are covered with a double layer and let dry. We turn the stones over and paint them on the other side. Let it dry and finish with another coat of paint and fill in any gaps that have been left.

Second step:

We will draw the lines and drawings of each stone simulating the shape of cacti. We will help ourselves with a white fixing marker or a tipex. We will make dots, lines and the shape of the thorns by drawing little stars.

Third step:

With a green marker we paint some large transversal stripes and with another pink marker We paint some flowers or fun shapes that simulate typical cactus effects.

Fourth step:

We fill the flower pot earthen with earth. Above we place the stones in order, the largest at the back and the smallest at the front.

Fifth step:

We fill the gaps that remain with the small rocks so that there are no spaces left and the pot is much more decorative.
