We make an identification tag for dogs

Now that it is time for the holidays and we travel to places that our dogs do not know, it is better that they carry one Dog identification plate with your name and our telephone number. This will speed up the process of getting you back with us if they get lost.

Do you want to see how to do it?

Materials to make a dog tag

  • Cardboard, in my case I am going to recycle a clothing label.
  • A piece of thick plastic recycling the lid of a container
  • Scissors, pens and markers
  • Hot glue gun
  • Paper drill

Hands on craft

  1. We write our dog's name on the cardboard with a marker and then we go over the edges of the letters with a pen to give it greater legibility.
  2. We cut an oval around the name and write our phone number on the back and a message if we want. It is important that the numbers are as clear as possible.
  3. We let dry the ink well by letting the cardboard rest for a day.

  1. We cut out a large piece of plastic, cut it in half and we put the cardboard on top of one half. We will cut leaving a margin of about five millimeters around the cardboard, in addition to leaving a peak on one side to make a hole there where the ring will go.

  1. We cut another piece of equal plastic to the previous one using the already cut as a template.
  2. We drill a hole in each peak of plastic using the paper hole punch.

  1. Now we put the cardboard on a plastic surface. We put on top of the hot silicone cardboard and place one of the plastic pieces and press with another piece of cardboard so as not to burn us. By doing this, the silicone will spread by gluing the written cardboard and the plastic as well as sealing that side of the cardboard to waterproof the cardboard.

  1. We repeat the same process with the other side of the cardboard and the other piece of plastic.
  2. We make sure all the edges have been covered so that no water can enter.

  1. We will trim the edge to shorten the plastic and also leave a good shape for the nameplate. We will introduce the tip of the silicone gun through the hole to reopen it if it has been plugged with silicone.
  2. Just left put a ring if we put it on a necklace or a rope that ties it to the ornaments that some flea collars have.

And ready!

I hope you cheer up and do this craft.
